8.28.07 State of the Union
It's been a month long hiatus from the internet kiddeos. Sorry 'bout that. Things have been....busy. Well, the CD is out, the party at the Walnut Room was amazin', and now we're on cruise control...just kidding. The DA does not rest on its laurels! We are writing new tunes in droves right now, and will probably start recording again soon enough. Tim Dean is experimenting with a lot of space rock, and Khurrum is mainly playing piano/keys right now, so the sound is evolving into something...else.... Thanks to everyone who's made a show recently, and especially those of you who have bought a CD. The response has been overwhelming. We now have a review section up on our site. Also tinkering around with many...wonderful...things on this site. Stay tuned for some eFun in the near future! Hope all is well, drop us a line and tell us how yer doin'.
7.6.07 The Sally Situation Resolved...
After much legal mumbo-jumbo, and some ca$h to the right folks, the royalties/licensing for our interpretation of "Sally Go 'Round The Roses" has been resolved. Yep, The Daily Afflictions are a legal and compliant band...amongst many other things!
7.1.07 Something to say about Dear Sally
Sally Go 'Round is a song that is very near and dear to our hearts. Tim and Khurrum have been playing it live ever since they were the two man acoustic troubadours in 2005. The song is originally from a late 1950s Motown group called 'The Jaynettes', though our first exposure to it was the Tim Buckley versions from his later live recordings. Our version owes much to the Buckley rendition, though we've definitely got our own spin on it. We love this song so much, that we decided to off the cuff record it at Immersive Studios, and will put it on our album. After much searching around, we've been completely unable to find any information on Jaynettes copywriting/royalties; the best we've done is found some low rent geocities website, and emailed them to which we've gotten no response. With great respect to all original artists involved, we will put it on our album anyway, and if the proper paths cross in the future, we will of course come to any reasonable copywriting agreement. Yeah, we're trying to cover our ass from any legal bullshit... And yeah, we recorded this in one live take at Immersive Studios. And yeah, our version is most definitely about a lesbian love affair.
7.1.07 A Trial and Error Approach to Life...err...Website Building
Khurrum is trying to build this website right now, with no html knowledge whatsoever. He is very confused at the moment, and is rambling in the third person. Spirits are still high, for the album is done, and Tim & Khurrum are moving into a new house next week, which will serve as a second studio as well. It is late.... Khurrum needs to stop typing and start sleeping for a change. Please bear with us, as this site will undoubtedly morph over the next few weeks.
